Sun Runner House Guide

Welcome to Sun Runner!

We hope you enjoy your stay at our tranquil getaway in the high desert. We love to see people enjoy their visit so if you're inclined to share any photos, tag us using @losthorsehideaways and #sunrunner on Instagram.

Our names, Lost Horse Hideaways, and Sun Runner emanate from climbing areas and routes inside Joshua Tree National Park. The Lost Horse area of the park is home to some of our favorite climbs, and its unique history lends itself to the name. If you're looking for adventure, hike the Lost Horse Mine. It's a must visit for anyone visiting the park.

Sun Runner is a secret gem of a climbing route in the Jumbo Rocks area of the park. Dino Banco put up the first ascent in 2016. A rarity for Joshua Tree In that the climb is a bolted 5.11b sport route. 12 bolts to the anchors will get you up the 105' climb.

We hope you'll find this house manual and guidebook helpful, and make your stay easy and most enjoyable!

Please reach out directly if there's anything you need during your stay or if there is anything we can do to improve! A 5-Star review would mean the world to us and truly be a tremendous help.

THANK YOU!

TV

We have a smartTV with Roku built in

You can login to any of your streaming services to watch Please log out when you check-out

RECORD PLAYER

Feel free to throw on any of the records. Please be gentle with the needle and when handling the vinyl. You can also change the player to Bluetooth and connect the music on your phone/computer/iPad by pairing it to the player.
Bluetooth connection should come up at LPSC-008

Firepit

Be responsible and use common sense when using the fire pit.
The fire pit is only to be used on allowed burn days and must be supervised by an adult at all times.

To light the fire. Remove the cover and have the long lighter handy. (can be found in the kitchen drawer)
Make sure both valves (propane tank, and hose valve are full closed)
Turn hose valve open just slightly (about a 1/4 of a turn)

Turn the main valve of the propane tank on just slightly (about a 1/4 of a turn)
Quickly light the fire ring with the lighter. Once there is a small flame going you can adjust the valves to get your desire fire height.

Keep it safe!!!
To turn off the fire. Turn the propane tank valve all the way off. Put the fire cover back on and return the lighter to the kitchen.

If the fire pit propane runs out we keep a reserve tank behind the BBQ that you can swap out if you feel comfortable doing so. Please let us know if the tank runs out and will have it refilled.

Hot Tub

To open the cover, grab the handles located in the middle of the cover and slide to one side. The covers will fold and sit at the sides of the tub.

Use the control panel to set the temp and turn the jets on/off. We leave the tub set around 100 degrees. If you want to kick it up to 104 it’ll take about an hour+ to get there (depending on the season) so set it early.

Please lower the temp back down to 100 and secure the cover once you’re done.

Hammocks

The hammocks are stored in the entryway closet. Use the carabiners to clip hammocks to the rings on the posts. The weather can change quickly in the desert so please bring the hammocks in after you use them.

Pool

There is no lifeguard on duty for the pool so use at your own risk.

The pool is not heated but stays warm from the heat during the summer months. Our pool cleaners come by once a week to clean the pool and the hot tub. We do our best to schedule them between guests but they could show up during your stay.

Please use the grey towels for the pool and hot tub. The white towels are for showers and baths.

BBQ

To light the grill make sure the propane tank is turned on. The knobs for each burner have built in ignition switches so turn them to light and you should be all set. The side burner has a separate ignition switch you can press after setting that knob to light.

Table Heater

To use the table heater, make sure the propane valve is turned on.

Turn the knob to light. Sometimes it takes a few attempts.

Propane Tanks

As you can see we have propane tanks for the fire pit, table heater and BBQ. We do our best to keep them full but if one should run out, please let us know and we’ll make sure to get someone out to replace it ASAP. You’re more than welcome to swap them around if you need to and feel comfortable doing so.

Games

Feel free to use any of the games in the closet. If you take out the bocce ball set, please make sure it gets returned to the closet once you’re finished. The horse shoes can stay in the horse shoe pits. If anything is missing please let us know so we can replace it.

Fireplace

We have a wood burning fire place in the living room. We do not supply firewood for it but you can pick it up at most of the local grocers/markets in the area.
Make sure the flue is open before starting your fire so the smoke vents outside.
Keep it safe!!! Close the metal screen and the glass doors on the fireplace to prevent any embers from escaping the fireplace.

Trash

There is a dumpster at the front of the property for trash and a blue recycling bin in the garage for recycling. We’d appreciate you taking out your trash when you leave just incase the cleaners can’t make right after check-out.

Earth Care

We try our best to be as sustainable as possible. While we do have paper towels under the sink we also supply a large amount of washable rags under there as well. Please use them instead of paper towels if you can. We keep a small bin under the sink for the dirty ones. We also ask that you only use as many towels as absolutely necessary to save on water when we wash them. Thank you!!
